Q. How do I sync EndNote Web to my desktop EndNote?
Due to DoD firewall settings, we are unable to use the EndNote sync option on DoD computers. However, you can export references from EndNote online to a format that can then be imported into EndNote desktop without being synced or transferred directly. To do this:
- Create your export list (up to 500 references) in your EndNote online library.
- Click on the “Format” tab and then click on “Export References”.
- In the “References:” drop down select the export list
- Change the “Export Style:” to “RefMan RIS Export”.
- Click “Save:”
- To import the exported file into EndNote, open your EndNote program
- Open an existing library or create a new library to import the EndNote online references.
- Click on File > Import > File (on Windows) or File > Import (On Mac).
- In the Import dialog, click “Choose” or “Browse” and select the export file.
- Select "Reference Manager (RIS)" as the “Import Option”.
- Change the “Duplicates:” option to your requirement.
- Set the “Text Translation” to "No Translation" and then click on “Import”.
You should now be able to see the references in your EndNote desktop.
