EndNote (Clarivate) says it's essential to keep your enl file and Data folder together for EndNote to work correctly (details below).
To do this, you need to move your EndNote files to your C drive.
- Open File Explorer.
- Click on Local Files.
- It should indicate that you're in the C drive.
- IT suggests creating a folder for your EndNote Libraries.
- Once you've created the folder, you should be able to move your EndNote Libraries there.
We're still in the process of testing this, so if you have questions or comments, please don't hesitate to reach out.
From the Clarivate site:
General library safety notes
- EndNote libraries consist of two parts: the enl file and the Data folder. You must keep these two components together at all times; both are essential for the library to work correctly.
- Keep EndNote libraries on your computer's local hard drive. Storing and editing libraries on a network drive can lead to corruption and performance issues.
- You should never store active EndNote libraries inside cloud-syncing folders such as Dropbox, OneDrive, Box, SugarSync and others. Syncing folders such as these will significantly increase your chances of encountering library corruption.
