We default to using the National Library of Medicine (NLM) Classification System for call numbers, but if we’re cataloging a book that doesn’t fall within that system, we use the Library of Congress (LoC) Classification System. The list below shows how the books are organized in the stacks. Headings in mixed (upper and lower) case are NLM. Titles in all caps are LoC. This works for us because Q in LoC covers Science, and the Qs in NLM cover Preclinical Sciences. NLM uses Ws for Medicine and Related Subjects, and LoC does not use Ws.
